Curly Assembly began as the vision of a determined teenager who was tired of overpriced hair products that didn’t work and even caused health issues in her family. At just 17 years old, Angel Coulter started making her own natural hair care products to fix the very problems the industry ignored. Frizz, dryness, and formulas packed with harmful ingredients were everywhere. When she saw real results in her mom and grandma’s hair, she knew she had something worth sharing.
Curly Assembly officially launched on June 24, 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic. From the kitchen to a six figure business, Angel grew the brand through word of mouth, customer trust, and a mission rooted in community care. In 2021, the brand went viral when singer Lizzo shared our Whipped Hair Butter on TikTok. That moment and the steady love from the curly hair community helped us reach thousands of customers across the country.
